Pliers. - Pliers for fixing identification plates to the ears of animals are provided with a pair of clinching dies f, g carried by cylindrical shanks f<1>, g<1> terminating in threaded studs f<2>, g<2> screwed into the jaws d, e, and one or both of the jaws are fitted with clips h, i having flexible fingers h<1>, i<1> adapted to grip and hold the discs, the clips being movable against compression springs j, so as to move backwards during the clinching operation to release the hold of the flexible fingers on the discs. The tubular rivet connecting the discs is spread and closed by centre projections f<3>, g<3>, one hollow and one solid. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 312,709.
