Abstract

311,797. Mason, H. L. Feb. 15, 1928. Fluid-actuated valves such as safety or pressure-reducing valves are provided with a valve-like actuator arranged on the fluid side of the valve in proximity to a member designed to utilize the velocity of the escaping fluid to increase the pressure-difference operating the actuator. In the form shown in the Figure, the valve member 7 co-operates with a seat 5 and is connected by a spindle 13 with the valve-like actuating-member 8, which is provided with a seat 6. The casing above the seat 6 is shaped to form a conical nozzle terminating near the seat 5. The device is loaded by a spring 14, acting through levers 11 and toggle links 9. The device may be used as an auxiliary valve to control the operation of a piston-actuated main valve.
