Abstract
311,356. Oliver, F. Feb. 7, 1928. Thermionic detectors and amplifiers.-Wireless receiving apparatus, comprising two or more valves with iron-cored chokes as inter-valve couplings, is operated without a high-tension source. Fig. 2 shows the system applied to a four-valve wireless receiver, comprising a detector valve followed by three amplifying-stages. A choke-coil a is connected in the plate circuit of each valve between the plate f and the low-tension positive lead. Each plate is connected to the following grid j through a condenser c. The choke-coils a may be wound on separate iron cores, or on a common core b. A further condenser o may be connected between the plates of two of the valves. The Specification also describes a two-valve receiver with a single intervalve coupling (Fig. 1, not shown).
