Abstract

309,623. Main, G. A., and Main Ropeways, Ltd. Jan. 13, 1928. Endless conveyers with articulated receptacles; auxiliary ropes, driving-gear; tensioning.-In an endless belt or tray conveyer having a pair of lateral haulage ropes 4, 5, these ropes comprise a single rope which is led across from one side of the conveyer and back again to the other by means of a compensating device mounted on a cross-bar 6 which travels with the conveyer. The conveyer comprises a series of trays 1 loosely articulated together by large-headed bolts 2 passing through slots 3 in their overlapping ends. The cross-bar 6 is coupled to adjacent trays 1 by slotted arms 7 and bolts 8. Two downwardly tilted pulleys 9 are provided at each end of the cross-bar to deflect the rope inwardly and downwardly to form the cross-over sections 10, 11. Guide pulleys 12 with horizontal axes are provided and are arranged at slightly different levels in order that the crossover sections may clear each other. The trays are connected to the rope by clips comprising upper and lower jaws 17, 18, Fig. 5. Each end pulley may be tensioned by a weight 18 connected to its axle 19, Fig. 4, which is mounted in a slide. If each pulley of the pair at one end of the conveyer is driven, the drive is preferably conveyed through a differential gear.
