309,347. Imray, O. Y., (I. G. Farhenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). June 28, 1928. Perforations in kinematograph film, gauging. - Comprises a. strip 1 of wood, metal or other rigid material having a central longitudinal recess 2 of width about equal to the width of the usual film strip and having near one end two pins 3 in size and. shape corresponding to the holes in the films, from each of which pins extends a row 4 of marks in size, shape, and pitch corresponding to the holes in a standard film. The marks are black upon a white background, and the film to be tested is laid in the recess with the pins engaging two holes on opposite sides of the strip. Interference will occur when a. length of the series of holes differs from a similar length of graduations by the width of a hole or graduation and from this fact, the known length of a series of holes in a standard film, the width of the hole, and the standard pitch, the pitch of the holes under test can be calculated. The board is marked with the calculated pitch in the margins adjoining graduations where interference occurs.
