218,549. Pollak, J. E., (Maschinenbau- Akt.-Ges. Seebach). Nov. 12, 1923. Range-finders.-In electrical apparatus for the measurement of distances by the utilization of two telescopes at the ends of a base means are provided to compensate for the errors introduced by electrical resistances in the circuits which are not measuring resistances. The telescopes are sighted on a point at a known distance, and the resistance 7 corresponding to the log base in the equation log. distance = log. base + log sin angle opposite distance + log cosec. angle opposite the base is adjusted until the instrument 8 indicates the correct distance. The adjusted resistance is then used as though it were correctly log. base. Specification 218,548 is referred to.
