Abstract
309,324. Smith & Sons (Motor Accessories), Ltd., S., and Eckford, F. G. May 3, 1928. Radiators, motor-car and like.- The louvres 1 of air-control shutters are provided with angularly adjustable pivoting means, whereby they may be fitted to sloping V-fronted or rounded-top radiators. In one arrangement, pivots 5 on parts 12, Fig. 2, secured in plates 13 on the louvres engage bearing holes in spherical members 7 which are adjustably clamped in co-operating recesses in plates 4 behind the front flange 3 of the shutter frame 2 and in clamping plates 8, which are resilient and are secured by bolts 10 passing through the flange 3 and the plates. Preferably each plate 8 engages only two spherical members 7, while the plates 4 may be continuous around the flange 3. In the case of V-fronted radiators, shown in Fig. 6, the louvres are in two sets and their inner ends are pivoted above as described on a forwardly-sloping flanged middle member 14 of the frame. In modifications the pivots may have ball ends mounted between the plates 4 and R. or may turn in bearing-members swivelly-mounted on screwed studs on the flange 3 of the frame.
