308,791. Uster Factories for Apparatus & Machines, formerly Zellweger, Ltd. March 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Warp threads, uniting.-In a knotting machine for uniting intercrossing warp threads the separating device comprises pairs of rotating spindles 1 having stop or guide members 6 slidably mounted thereon. The spindles 1 are provided with screwthreaded ends 2 to facilitate their entrance between the warps a, b, and the stop members 6 are reciprocated within longitudinal grooves 5 in eccentric portions 4 of the spindles. In operation the warp a to be separated first passes within the eccentric portion of the two spindles, Fig. 4, the adjacent warp b passing to the outside of the spindles and being projected, with the other warps, to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 by the stop members 6. Thereafter, as the spindle rotates, the warp a is engaged by the eccentric portion 4 and further separated thereby while the warp b has free passage within the eccentric portion of the spindle.
