Abstract

307,771. Halford, F. B. Dec. 13, 1927. Casings.-The valve rocker E is carried by a casing J which is movably anchored to the cylinder head at the part surrounding the valve stem, and is connected at another part by one or more tie rods M to the cylinders or crank case to compensate for heat expansion. The casing has an extension enclosing the valve spring and provided with a cup-shaped end J<1> engaging under a cup-shaped nut or washer K<2> screwed on a tubular bolt K surrounding or forming the valve guide. A cup-shaped spring washer K<3> engages underneath the member J<1>. The tie rod M may form a casing for the push rod G, and is adjustable in length at M<2>; its upper end may be connected' to the casing J so as to have slight angular movement.
