307,737. Magnet-Werk Ges. Eisenach Spezialfabrik f³r Elektromagnet- Apparate. March 12, 1928, [Conventio?z date]. Testing. - The presence of metallic needles in textiles fabrics is detected by passing them between electrodes charged to a high voltage, the presence of the needles reducing the air gap and causing a spark disoharge to take place. The alterations in the electrical system produced when sparks are formed are utilized for effecting the operation of devices for stopping the machine. The fabric 5 to be tested for the needles 4 is passed between rollers 2, 3, flat surfaces, or a roller and a flat surface, charged to a high potential by a transformer 1 or by continuous current apparatus. The variation in the primary current of the transformer when sparks pass between the electrodes may be caused to operate a relay to stop the machine.
