Abstract
307,645. Zimmerman, W. J. April 2, 1928. Pulping-engines. - A vertical pulp beater comprises an upright beater roll 10, Figs. 2 and 3, acting in co-operation with a bed-plate, a horizontal circulation of the stock being produced in the tub. Preferably, two bed-plates 14 and tapered wooden guides 18 are provided, while the driving-motor 7 is mounted above the roll 10 and connected directly to the shaft 4, sealing rings 20, 23 preventing the passage of stock to the shaft 4. The bed-plates 14 are yieldingly supported on springs 24a, Fig. 4, the springs being simultaneously adjusted in position by cams 25 on vertical shafts 26 controlled by a hand-wheel 31.
