Locking nuts.- For locking nuts and bolts a flat washer 2 is provided with lateral and integral lugs '6 adapted to be turned up and engage the sides of the nut 3 or bolt head and one or more projections 5 on the under side of the washer are adapted to penetrate or engage the work 4. When the work is of metal only one projection 5 is provided and a small recess is formed in the surface of the work by a centre punch or a small hole is drilled therein.
