Abstract

305,871. Zeumer, G. A. April 4, 1928. Addition to 214,553. Furs and furriery.-The machine according to the parent Specification is modified by the provision of a pivoted suction pipe 18 having an enlarged nozzle in which is mounted a revolving cutter 13, co-operating with a straight cutter 59 forming one edge of the nozzle, means being provided for rocking the pipe and cutters to retract them from the fur during adjustment. The nozzle and cutter-shaft are controlled by arms 11, Fig. 2, mounted on the shaft 4, on which the pipe 18 is pivoted, which actuates, through an eccentric 7, links 8, 9 and rock-shaft 10, a rod 40 connected to one of the arms 11. The rod 40 is formed with a notch engaging a pin carried on arms on the shaft 10, and the notch and pins are detachably held in engagement by a spring 60. A hand-lever 49 is provided for lifting the rod 40 to prevent movement of the arms 11, a pin carried by a spring 52 being adapted to engage an aperture in the lever 49 to hold the rod in raised position. Resilient stops 43, 44, carried by an arm 46 on the machine frame, limit the movement of the rods 11. Connected by links 41, Fig. 1, to an arm 37 on the rock-shaft 10 are levers 28 carrying the lower brush 24, so that it reciprocates with the nozzle and cutters. Connections 29 - - 34 between the lever 28 and a member 35 actuated by a member 38 on the shaft 10 cause the raising of the roller 24 in front of the tip of the wedge 16, over which the fur is' fed, to part the hairs at this point. The upper roller 23 is adjustably carried by plates 27, 26, 32.
