Abstract

305,351. Bullows, W. L. Jan. 7, 1928. Stays.-Relates to sofa &c. fittings of the kind described in Specification 273,467. in which an end p is hinged to the sofa q and is adjustable angularly by a notched strut b, hinged at e to one part, engaging a projection f on the other part and held in engagement therewith by a retaining member g carried on the pivot e and engaged by a spring h. According to the present invention, the strut b is released, against the action of the member b, by a stem rotatable about its longitudinal axis. In the construction shown, the stem i, rotatably mounted in bearings j and k &c., is provided at one end with a handle m and the other end is bent at right angles to engage the side of the strut. The bearing k is formed by bending a piece of sheet metal to freely embrace the stem and is provided with holes to receive the projection f. A stop o on the bearing k prevents rotation of the stem in one direction.
