Abstract
305,220. Klotz, L. H., and Klotz, G., (trading as Klotz, H. & G.). Feb. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Invalids' tables and desks.-An invalid's table is fitted, in addition to the usual folding four legs, with other legs which enable it to be converted into a desk. Fig. 1 shows an underside view of a table comprising a top 1, four pivoted table legs 2, and two telescopic pivoted legs 3 on the rear side of the top. The top 1 has a recessed front edge leaving projections 5, which serve as elbow rests when the device is used as a table, and as feet when it is used as a desk, and is supported in an inclined position by them and by the legs 3. The legs 2 fold down at the sides of blocks 12, and the legs 3 fold down into recesses 11 in these blocks, and are there secured by spring catches. Similar catches are fitted to facilitate the adjustment of the length of the legs 3. The legs 2 are held in their extended position by slotted bars 15, each slot having a spring catch engaging with a stud in a bracket 19. The table is preferably completed by an angle-bar ledge 23, Fig. 9, secured by spring strips 24 on a rod 26, the ends of which slide in slots 27 in strengthening strips 29 under the table. By means of a step 31 the ledge may be set so that its effective height is reduced, and the table may be used as a writing-desk. Tappets 33, 34 may be swung over so as to keep the ledge in any of its positions. Straps 35 are fitted to retain books on the slope.
