Abstract

304,856. Garrett & Sons, Ltd., R., and Garrett, F. Nov. 3, 1927. Endless-track vehicles.-A track adapted to be laid loosely round the periphery of a vehicle wheel comprises one or more continuously-flexible bands having a series of tread plates secured thereto, means being provided to prevent lateral disengagement of the track from the wheel. In the construction shown two endless leather belts A slightly longer than the periphery of the wheel have alternating treads B, C riveted thereto. The treads B comprise plates b, b<1> welded or otherwise secured together, the plates b<1> being formed with cheeks b<2> which straddle the rim of the wheel. A perforated ground plate b' is welded to the underside of the plate b. The treads C are similar to the treads B except that the side cheeks b<2> are not provided. Two of the treads B and one tread C are provided with loops for straps d which unite the ends of the track. The invention may be applied to any vehicle wheels or in conjunction with light railway rolling stock as a substitute for the track.
