Abstract

Electric stoves.-An electric radiator is provided with a quartz or silica, glass screen having a smooth inner face adjacent the heating-elements and an outer face formed as a series of horizontal prismatic elements by which the heat rays are refracted in the desired direction in the vertical plane. Fig. 6 shows an electric resistance heating element g in a quartz tube h with prismatic outer surface, a number of these units being arranged side by side to form a radiator. In an alternative construction, shown in Fig. 8, resistance elements g are arranged in coincident channels on the adjacent faces of quartz plates i, having prismatically formed outer faces. The radiator shown in Fig. 16 comprises an outer prismatic quartz cylinder o, heating elements n, and a refractory backing m mounted on a cylinder q with internal ribs r, air being heated in passing up between these ribs and being delivered to the room through the perforated top of the radiator. The prisms may be successively of different angles, for example, as shown in Fig. 9, in order to obtain any required distribution of the heat.
