Abstract
304,753. Brassert & Co., H. A., (Assignees of Brassert, H. A., and Barrett, F. W.). Jan. 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Scrubber and washers.-A gaswashing tower comprises a number of sections of decreasing diameter in the direction of flow of the gas therethough, and connected by offset parts. Gas enters the largest section 19, Fig. 1, at the base, rises through baffles or hurdles 23, 25, to a smaller section 28, and escapes from the top-most and smallest section 32. Nozzles 33, 34, 37 are arranged to spray the hurdles, and a nozzle 15 causes a swirl at the base and removes deposits. The flow of water down the walls of the tower is interrupted by the lower edge 45, 46 of an upper section at the junction with a lower section; in a modification, the upper edge 50, Fig. 4, of a section 49 is bent inwards to engage the section 48 above.
