Abstract

337,070. Coffey, B. H., and Dauphinee, G. S. July 30, 1929. Nozzles for producing whirling spray.-A spray nozzle more particularly for cooling water comprises a spiral chamber 2, Fig. 1, and an inlet passage 4 that merges from circular to rectangular cross section of smaller area than the inlet the top, bottom, and one side wall of which are parallel to the axis of the inlet while the other side wall is inclined towards it and ends in a bend 7 to form a sharp contracting lip. On the spiral chamber is mounted a conical vortex chamber 9, Fig. 3, leading to a cylindrical outlet 12. The chamber 2 is formed with a drainage hole 16.
