Abstract
304,310. Maschinenfabrik Schweiter Akt-Ges. Jan. 19, 1928, [Convention date]. Circulating fluids through materials on perforated tubes; reagents, adding in measured and regulated quantities to treating-liquors.-In the treatment of cross-wound artificial silk spools with washing, bleaching or dyeing liquor, several cross-wound bobbins f, Fig. 1, are placed on each perforated tube g being compressed by separating- rings i the faces of which are convex or concave to compress more highly the inner or outer (or both) windings. The rings i may carry wire cages k to prevent lateral swelling of the compressed spools. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes an apparatus with an automatic reversal of flow of the liquor which is admitted by gravity through a pipe 17, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), until all air has been expelled at 8 and 9 these valves then being closed and' the circulating pump 16 started. Coupled to the pump-drive is mechanism for giving the reversing-valve 13 quarter-turns step-by-step. This mechanism comprises a worm-shaft 20, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), driven at reduced speed and driving adjustable cams 24 which raise and lower a lever 26 pivoted at 25 and linked at 28 to a pawl 31 engaging a ratchet-wheel 32. The ratchet-wheel is locked at each quarter-turn by a spring-pressed rod 33 engaging one of the notches 36, the rod 33 being raised at the commencement of each quarter-turn by an arm 35 on the lever 26. Reagents are added as required by a pump 14 after closing valve 10 and opening valve 11; valve 7 being also opened to avoid circulating the liquor through the spools until it is thoroughly mixed. After dyeing, valves 3, 12 are closed and valves 2, 5, 7, with air-vents 8, 9, cpened the liquid) being then pumped back to the receptacle at 17.
