Abstract

303,849. Treglown, G. H., and Barnfather, E. Oct. 11, 1927. Vehicle lamps, directing.-In lamp dipping or swivelling mechanisms for vehicles, the lamps are retained in the adjusted position by means of a quadrant or sector on the rocking or swivelling lamp support, the quadrant being engaged by means fixedly mounted adjacent the bearing of the support. In the mechanism shown, the lamp brackets are supported on a spindle e carried bv a sleeve, b mounted on a transverse rock-shaft c supported in end bearings d. The sleeve b carries a toothed quadrant g engaged by the nose of a spring- pressed bolt k mounted in the bearing casting, retaining the lamps against undesired movement from the adjusted position of dip. Preferably a similar device is used in connection with both the lamps on the rock-shaft. The quadrant or sector may be adapted to co-operate with a ball fastening device, or with a spring-pressed bolt having a V-shaped nose frictionally engaging a correspondingly-formed groove in the quadrant. Similar retaining means may be employed in connection with the swivelling mountings of the lamps. Specification 305,961 is referred to.
