Condensers. - For the purpose of compensating for the differences between the capacities of the several elements of a multi-condenser, the outside plates 11, 12 of the rotors 4, 6 are slotted radially or non-radially, so that a number of sectors a, b - - are formed. By bending these sectors towards their stators, the capacities of the elements A, C may be adjusted relatively to that of the element B, the bending being effected either by hand or by micrometer screws, as 12, one for each sector. The screws are preferably mounted on circular plates on the common shaft 3 and in view of the shielding effect of these plates, the elements may be put close together and the slotted plates arranged on the inside of their respective elements. Where the adjustment is to affect the whole characteristic curve of the condenser, the outside stator plates may be slotted instead, the plates carrying the screws 12 being in this case carried on the insulating rods 10 supporting the stators (Fig. 4).
