Methods of lasting.-Before lasting, uppers are tempered by exposing them in a chamber to a warm, very humid atmosphere. The uppers are lasted while in the tempered condition. The shoes are then, while still on their lasts, heated to set the uppers. The latter heating may be for a short time, say a quarter of an hour, at a temperature substantially above 90‹ F., particularly for patent leather. Specification 252,006 is referred to.
