Abstract

302,863. Seferiadis, B. March 19, 1928, [Convention date]. Tobacco.-Gums &c. are extracted from tobacco by means of acetone, in a vat 1 having a double perforated base. An inclined duct 5 leads the dissolved substances to a boiler 6 heated by a steam coil 7. The solvent distils and passes by a tube 9 and cooler 10 to a collecting chamber 11 above the vat 1 and communicable therewith through a cock 12. A cock 8 permits the contents of the boiler 8 to be drawn off. The action within the vat 1 may take place under pressure, or the solvent may be sprayed in. The materials so extracted may be used as described in Specification 298,151.
