Abstract

302,861. Sterling Metals, Ltd., and Player, E. May 18, 1928. Guiding flasks.-The sections 2, 3 of a moulding flask are located by a ball-and-socket register at one side and by means allowing freedom in the plane through both locating means and at rightangles to the faces of the flask. The flask 2 has lugs 9, 7, a pin 11 with a spherical engaging face 13 being mounted in the former and a tubular socket 15, Fig. 2, in the latter. The flask 3 has one lug 8 in which is mounted another pin 14 similar to the pin 11 and a lug 10 having an open slot 16 into which the pin 14 projects. Adjustable set-screws 17 extend into the slot 16 and engage the face 13 with their ends which form parallel planes. The lugs have pins 20 and holes 21 for roughly aligning the flasks before the pins 11, 14 engage their seats. In a modification, the socket 15 is replaced by a spring-pressed cup sliding in guides perpendicular to the jointing face of the flask.
