Loud-speakers; diaphragms; magnetic instruments.-In a device for the interconversion of mechanical and electrical oscillations, such as a loud-speaker, an armature 7, which passes through a coil 20 and extends between magnet poles 11, 12, is carried by a flexible or resilient member 14 extending in line with the armature and having its extremities anchored to a support 15. A cam 16 is provided for adjusting the tension of the armature, the movement of which is damped by adjustable resilient stops 18, 19. The armature is slotted at its edges to receive lugs 17, Fig. 3, on the inner periphery of the slotted member 14 and is tapered at its lower end for connection through rods 8, 9 and flexible member 10 to the apex of the conical corrugated diaphragm 1. The diaphragm is enclosed at its back by a felt-lined apertured baffle 2 and has its periphery clamped by screws 6 between the baffle 2 and a member 5. A horn may be attached at the base of the diaphragm.
