Abstract

Stoppers with valves.-In a closure for collapsable tubes &c. adapted to open when the tube is squeezed and to close automatically when pressure on the tube is released, and comprising an outer cap 3 against which a spring 9 presses a valve member formed with a strap 8 adapted to close an orifice in the top of the cap 3, the valve member 4, which is guided by the inner wall of the tube neck, is tubular so that the whole of the inner space of the valve is filled with the mass enclosed in the tube. When the tube is squeezed, the contents thereof pass up the valve 4 and out at its upper end into a space 11 between the valve and the cap. As the pressure continues, the valve is thrust downwards' by the contents of the tube and uncovers the orifice in the cap. 'The valve fits closely within the neck 2 of the tube and a flange 6 upon it makes a like fit with the cap 3. The closure may be locked in the closed position by screwing down the cap 3 until the spring 9 is fully compressed or until a flange 13 on the valve engages the neck of the tube.
