Abstract

300,745. Grubb, F. H. Sept. 26, 1927. Channels and reservoirs in ball bearings and cycle frames. -In a frame for bicycles, tricycles, &c., one or both of the bearings for the fork stem are arranged in chambers isolated from the remainder of the frame, so as to contain lubricant, such as grease. The fork stem 14 is provided with packing-rings 15, 21 retained between pairs of flanged rings 16, 22, so as to isolate the lower and upper parts of the head tube 2, grease being forced in by a gun through nipples 19, 24. The bearings in the bottom bracket are isolated from the remainder of the frame by a sheet copper &c. liner, grease &c. being forced in through a duct in the axle.
