300,538. Macallum, A. D. May 4, 1927. Divided on 300,286. Organo-arsenic compounds containing iodine.- 3 : 3<1> - Dinitro - 4:4<1> dihydroxy - 5 : 5<1>-di-iodoarsenobenzene is prepared by treating a methyl alcohol solution of 3-nitro-4-hydroxy-5-iodophenylarsinic acid with hypophosphorous acid at 55- 60‹ C. 3-Nitro-4-hydroxy-5-iodophenylarsenious oxide is produced when the arseno compound is treated with iodine and the resulting arsine diiodide then hydrolyzed with aqueous alkali bicarbonate. The products are useful as parasiticides.
