Abstract

300,006. Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine Co., Ltd., and Berrisford, R. Nov. 4, 1927. Work - supports, - The needle-throat plate C of a vibrating needle machine moves synchronously with the needle bar and has its upper surface below that of the work-support to avoid any tendency of the work to follow its movements. The work support A is secured to a block B by a screw and has the usual slot a<1> for the fourmotion feed dog and a slot a<2> for the needle which enters the hole c in the throat-plate C. The throat-plate slides in a groove in the block B and is reciprocated by a link D suitably connected to the driving mechanism. The operative part c<2> of the throat plate is reduced in thickness and projects somewhat above the main portion, but is below the level of the upper surface of the work support surface A.
