297,623. Davies, C. E., Bourne, A. J., and Robertson & Co., Ltd., W. H. A. Jan. 14, 1928. Force-feed and gravity-feed lubricating; cooling and filtering lubricant.-In a bearing for rolling mills, a portion thereof is arranged to constitute the bearing-surface proper, while the remaining portion forms an enclosed oil bath through which lubricant is circulated. Oil is forced from a reservoir 29 in the bed plate by a pump 31 through pipes 32, 34 and sight-feed devices 35 to the baths and returns therefrom to the reservoir through pipes 38 and a filter 39. Pipes 19 draining oil from the ends of the bearings are connected to the pipe 38. A relief pipe 42 is provided, and cooling water is circulated through a coil 40 arranged in the reservoir. In a modification, the pump delivers to an overhead tank from which the baths are fed by gravity.
