Abstract
297,575. Cardellino, M. M. Sept. 29, 1927. Addition to 273,908. Magneto-electric machines. - The tubular permanent magnet of the magneto described in the parent Specification is replaced by a series of rectilinear stave-shaped magnets 1 provided with pole shoes 3 and arranged in such a way as to present alternate N and S poles at each end, and the rotor comprises two polar wheels 7 rotating in the plates of the pole shoes connected by a central laminated core 6 on which is wound the armature coil 10, and longitudinal laminated bars 9 lying between the teeth of the polar wheels; the teeth and the longitudinal bars are equal in number and together equal the number of rectilinear magnets. The rotor is mounted on a hollow shaft 5 which can be threaded on to the driving shaft, and the flux from the magnets closes alternately through the core 6 and through the bars 9 so that with the arrangement shown, six reversals are produced per revolution. The armature winding is in two sections and the outer ends are connected to rotating distributor contacts 11 coacting with fixed connections 13 arranged in two parallel planes. The magnets 1 are held in grooves in a nonmagnetic ring 2 or they may be embedded in insulating material, and the longitudinal bars on the rotor are supported by non- magnetic (bridge pieces 9<1>. To diminish eddy currents, the laminae of the polar wheels 7 may be split as at 6<1>, successive laminae being angularly displaced by 120‹.
