Abstract

297,475. Etablissements Davey, Bickford, Smith, et Cie. Sept. 23, 1027, [Convention date]. Blasting fuzes.-Relates to perforated cylinders of explosive adapted to transmit detonation from a primer or detonating fuze cord to one or more detonating fuze cords inserted in the perforations. According to the invention, the perforations extending from opposite ends of the cylinder are arranged in staggered formation and overlap each other, and the cylinder may be enclosed in a casing and the mouth of the holes be protected by washers. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the cylinder 1 has an axial hole 2 and three other holes 3 extending irom one end of the cylinder, and three more holes 4 extending from the other end in between the holes 3. The cylinder is enclosed in a metal casing 5 with end plates 6, 7; and the mouths of the holes are covered by washers 9, 10 of paraffin paper, or cloth backed paper, or gummed cloth, which may be easily torn off. Teeth or claws may be provided at the edges of the mouths cf the holes to secure the primer or fuzes inserted therein. The end plates 6, 7 may be soldered to the casing 5 or secured by a Chatterton band.
