Abstract

297,406. Parville, E. June 21, 1927. Electrodes for storage batteries consist of rods 15 of elongated section spaced apart and placed with their large faces adjacent to one another. Each rod consists of two uprights 1, 2 connected by bars 4, active material being pressed into the spaces 6 and formed into an elongated shape as shown in plan in Fig. 2. The structure is covered with a layer of asbestos 10 over which enamelled wire 11 is wound, the turns of the latter being spaced apart. Fig. 5 shows in plan a modification in which each rod consists of a lead core 16 covered with active material enclosed in a perforated insulating sheath 18. The rods are of oval shape and are connected to bars 19, Fig. 4, at the top and bottom to form a complete electrode.
