Abstract

297,330. Descamps, N. Sept. 17, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Washing-apparatus with screens.-A current of water carrying coal, ore, &c. in an inclined trough 1 is deflected by an angle iron 4 beneath the opening 3 on to curved oscillating screens 6. The gangue falls through the screens and the coal is gradually shaken to discharge points at the ends of the screens. The rock-shaft 12 to which is secured a number of arms 10 carrying the screens is actuated by an electric motor through a crank 14, Fig. 3, rod 15 and lever 17. A jerk is imparted at the end of each stroke by a spring connection 19 between the crank and rod coacting with cam surfaces 23, 24. A suitable inclination of the screens is obtained by varying the length of the members 9 connecting the screens to the arms 10.
