Liquid-level indicators, applications of.-Apparatus for testing the specific-gravity and the level of the electrolyte in motor-car batteries comprises a hydrometer in the form of a glass &c. tube b containing gravity balls d and provided with a suction bulb a, the hydrometer being permanently connected to the battery by a rubber tube i extending between the vent plug j of one of the cells and a glass tube h passing through the lower end of the hydrometer. The connecting tube terminates within the cell at such a level that more electrolyte is needed if on operating the bulb a no liquid is drawn into the tube b. The hydrometer is mounted in a casing c attached to the dashboard &c. of the car
