Abstract

296,893. Rankine, J. Sept. 16, 1927. Driving arrangements for screw propellers comprising a longitudinally-arranged manuallyoperated crank shaft geared to the propeller shaft lias the brackets for supporting the crank shaft mounted between the keelson and the thwarts of the boat. A propeller shaft c, Fig. 1, is geared by pinions q, r to the crank shaft, of which cranks t, u, v are supported in blocks e, f, g, l, m, which are placed between the keelson and the thwarts i, j, k, o, p. The cranks are preferably arranged at 120‹ and for rapid assembling portions of the crank z are of square section (Fig. 4), pins z<1> serving to retain the sections and cranks against axial displacement. The bearing w for any crank section s is held in position in the supporting block m by end plates y held by through bolts.
