Abstract
296,866. Bates, A., (trading as Willis & Bates). July 26, 1927. Electric radiators.- The radiator comprises a vertical tube a radiused out at the bottom to join a large cylindrical base provided with air inlets, a heating element compris ing a hollow cone. b wound with a resistance c and situated at the top of the tube. and a cap d situated above the heating element. Air flows up the tube and is diverted over the resistance by the cap. The cap may be of glass or metal. It may be mounted on a pivot e and provided with internal vanes so as to be rotated by the air stream. It may be smoke camouflaged and protected by a perforated bonnet so as to produce an imitation fire effect. The air stream may also set in motion suspended ribbons. A second heating element f and cap g may be provided.
