Abstract
296,606. British-American Laundry Machinery Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Mc- Carthy, J. E.). Sept. 28, 1927, [Convention date]. Air, controlling direction of flow of.-In apparatus for drying blankets, curtains, &c. of the kind in which the articles are supported upon racks 6 adapted to be reciprocated in and out of the drying chamber, the inner end 9 of each rack is formed with damper-controlled apertures 16 which are opened to permit the flow of hot air from an inlet in the ceiling of the chamber to an outlet duct 15 when the rack is in its inward position, and which are closed so as to seal the opening in the front of the chamber when the rack is in its outward position. The damper consists of a vertically slidable plate 17 having apertures corresponding to those in the end of the rack and carrying a roller 21 which coacts with a cam 28 on the floor. The plate falls under its own weight as the rack moves to its outward position.
