Rolling-machines; cooling-moulds, and moulded articles.-Briquettes of granular iron ore or ironbearing material such as blast furnace dust are made by heating the ore in a rotary oven and discharging it in a plastic state between cooled moulding rollers. Fig. 1 shows the moulding rollers having mould cavities provided with perforations g leading to the hollow interior through which water is circulated by way of a hollow axle. The water percolating to the moulded material forms a, hard skin on the outer surface. The heated material is delivered from a shoot h and may be moistened at i. The rollers are mounted to yield under excessive strain, and the mould cavities taper outwards to sharp edges without intervening spaces at the periphery of the roller.
