Moulding hollowware; pressing-dies. -Lids or covers for teapots &c. of the kind having the knob sunk in a recess are moulded by means of a domed die adapted to form the recess and associated displaceable die sections adapted to form the knob. As shown, a die block c arranged within a mould a carries a domed member e apertured for the passage of the knob and a pair of die sections f furnished with knob-forming recesses f<1>. The sections fare pivoted on a spindle d<3> and are furnished with tails f<2> adapted to contact with blocks b<1> to close the sections together when the block c is lowered, and with curved faces f<3> adapted to engage noses a<2> of adjustable screwed members a<1> to open the sections as the block e is raised for delivery. A top die g is formed with a flange-forming groave g<3> and recesses g<2>, g<5>, and is furnished with a central ejector h which may be forced down by a rod h<1> or by a spring. In use the block c is lowered and the mould charged' with powdered clay &c. After pressing, the top die g is raised and the lid ejected by raising the shank d of the block c by a treadle; during this movement, the sections f separate, as shown, leaving the article free for removal. A stationary rod b<2>, passing through an aperture in the block e and a hole g<1> in the die g, forms the vent in the lid.
