Ornamenting. - The Specification as open to Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a method of ornamenting articles in which the article is first provided with a coating of a composition prepared by mixing a so1ution of white lac gum in an alcoholether mixture with a solution of sandarac in alcohol and adding thereto a solution of nitrated cotton in acetone. When the coating is dry, the design is engraved therein to expose the surface of the article and metals are deposited along the lines of the design by chemical displacement or by e1ectro1ysis. The composition coating is then removed. To facilitate engraving the design, the artic1e may be given a dark coating, e.g. of brown oxide of manganese, before receiving the composition, this coating being removed, e.g. by sodium su1phite, before the application of the metal. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
