Bodies; dashboards. - In covering with celluloid articles such as dashboards and body work of vehicles, a strip or sheet of celluloid is rendered pliable by treatment with a softening- medium, and is applied in this conditon to the surface of the vehcle with an intermediate adhesive, and stretched over edges, projections, &c. then left to dry, and finally polished. A single strip may be used or two or more strips may be applied with overlapping edges which become welded, together by the stretching. The softening medium may be mixtures of acetone and water; acetone, methylated spirit and benzol; methyl acetone, methylated spirit and petrol; or methyl acetone and benzol. The adhesive may consist of Scotch glue and amyl acetate, or shellac, resin, and acetone, or a mixture of these.
