Abstract

293,947. Moss, B., and Walter, H. L. May 25, 1927. Plain plug stoppers; stoppers, screw.-A closure for tanks, canisters, &c. comprises an outer screw socket B for a screw cap A or plug bearing on a resilient washer G, and an inner socket E for a press lid C, both closures making tight joints with their sockets so that either will secure the contents of the tank &c. if the other should fail. A spring F secured to the inner lid C is engaged by the screw cap A to press down the inner lid which, together with the socket E, is of tapering formation. A handle H for removing the inner lid is disposed towards the edge thereof. As shown, the socket E is integral with the socket B, but it may be formed independently thereof by turning inwards the material of the top of the tank &c.
