Crushers with gyratory heads.-In a gyratory crushing-machine of the type such as is described in Specifications 239,109. 243,926, 247,722 and 253,103, having a concave Q, Fig. 2, surrounding a gyratory cone L, The concave is provided with a screwthreaded part Q<1> co-operating with a corresponding part P<10> on a. supporting ring P<3> mounted on the frame A<1> so that adjustment of the concave may be effected to vary the fineness of the crushed material. Preferably a coarse adjustment is made by the rotation of a vertical shaft T<2> mounted on the ring P<3> and adapted to wind a chain T<18>, while a fine adjustment is made by a screw-and-nut mechanism, Fig. 8. The under surface of the cone is provided with a main spherical bearing-surface L<1>, Fig. 5, and a concentric annular spherical surface L<11> which cooperate with corresponding spherical surfaces H', H<5> with an intervening oil sump H<3> on a fixed plate H covering the cylinder B in which the eccentric shaft J is revolved. Adjustment of the concave. Mounted on the - concave Q is a feed housing Q<20> provided with a number of apertured lugs Q<15> through which are passed screws Q<16> adapted to engage the rim Q<17> of an annular member or dust guard Q" bearing upon the ring P<3> and, when tightened, securely to lock the threaded members P<10>. Q'. The guard Q<12> and a ring T<15>, Fig. 1, fitted with pins T<16>, one of which is engaged by the free end of the chain T<18> so that, when the screws Q<16> are loosened and the shaft T<2> is rotated by operating a ratchet clutch T<5> the guard Q<12>, housing Q<20> and concave Q are rotated relatively to the supporting ring P<3>. A locking-pawl T<6> and ratchet wheel T<3> normally hold the shaft T<2> against rotation. In order to lock the concave in its adjusted position the member Q<12> is provided with a series of apertured lugs T<14> through one of which is passed a. pin T<10> adapted to engage one of a series of holes T<9> in the curved Portion T<8> of an arm T' mounted on the shaft T<2>. The fine adjustment mechanism comprises a rotary screw W<4>, Fig. 8, operating a sliding sleeve W<12> which carries a locking plate embracing one of the pins T<16>. Springs P<8> normally retain the ring P<3> in contact with the rim P of the frame member A', but permit an upward movement of the ring P<3> when the crushing pressure exceeds a predetermined limit. M' of the mantle of the cone are fixed in position by a sliding sleeve M<3> and a threaded locking-sleeve M<6>, Fig. 3, which screws on to a threaded part J<4> of the shaft J and is locked in position by inserting a locking- member M<9> haying a non-circular part M<11> entering a correspondingly shaped recess M<12> in the shaft, the locking-member M<9> also having a number of teeth M<10> entering gaps M<7> in the sleeve M<6>. A feed limiting plate 0 is supported on the sleeve M<6> by a bolt 0<1> and is provided on its under surface with lugs 0<5> entering the gaps M<7> so that the plate 0 rotates with the shaft J and sleeve M<6>. Lubrication of the bearing surfaces. A spherical liner L', Fig. 5, secured to the cone L by an annular flange L<3> has an annular oil duct L<5> with a number of openings L', oil being supplied to the duct L<5> through a longitudinal passage J<6>, Fig. 2, in the shaft J and a transverse passage in the cone and draining away through the oil sump H<3>.
