Materials, special. - Tables, chairs, or other articles of furniture are made mainly from thin wood, ply-wood, or the like, the shape of the article being obtained by fastening the sheets of material together upon suitably shaped battens or short pieces of wood which do not constitute a frame but merely serve as connections or glueing strips between the sheets where required. In the table shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the legs comprise sheets 1 attached to corner strips 2, while the sheet sides 3 are mounted on bars 4. In the chair shown in Fig. 4, sheets 9, 12 and 13 are fixed together by strips 10 and shaped battens 11, 14, 15.
