Abstract

292,950. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. June 27, 1927, [Convention date]. N-Oxyethyl derivatives of 2-amino-1-oxybenzene are produced by condensing the latter with a halogen-hydrin of glycol in the presence of an agent that binds acid and at ordinary pressure. A diluent or solvent may be used. In examples, the 2-mono- and di-oxyethylamino-1-oxybenzenes are produced by heating 2-amino-1-oxybenzene with the appropriate quantity of ethylenechlorhydrin in the presence of calcium carbonate and water. The products are extracted, after filtering, with ethyl acetate. The sodium compound of the 2-dioxyethylamino-1-oxybenzene and the sulphate of the 2-monooxyethylamino-1-oxybenzene are readily prepared from solutions of the bases in acetone, by means of caustic soda and sulphuric acid respectively.
