Aerial and like masts; lattice-work and openwork metal posts; protecting posts. - A trellis mast for live wire suspension is directly set in the ground, and the diagonal ties c. d and uprights a are protected at ground level by a weather-resisting concrete covering. The parts a, c, d to be protected carry slidably fitted concrete tubes e, f, g, respectively, drawn into position, and secured by a filling of concrete or asphalt, after the mast has been assembled and erected. The protecting tubes e for the corner shafts a are apertured to allow passage of the diagonal ties c, d and to allow of fitting the tubes f" g in position. In a modified construction, the tubes e may be formed in two pieces.
