Abstract

292,661. Schroter, G. A. March 18, 1927. Peat, preparing.-Peat in slurry form is treated with an alkaline coagulating agent such as calcium hydrate and liquid is removed by filtering or decanting. Dried peat or fibre is added and about one per cent of a drying agent such as burnt lime may also be added before the mass is compressed and allowed to dry. Pressure may first be applied to the mass which may be left in the open for a few days and then moulded or pressed and allowed further to dry until the moisture content is below ten per cent.
