June 7, 1927 Moulding wheel tyres.-In segmental collapsable tyre cores of the kind in which all the segments other than a key segment move as a group or unit out of the operative plane of the core for dismantling, the key segment also is moved along a curved path out of the operative plane of the core, and a particular arrangement, and inter-connection of the other segments also is described. In the illustrated form comprising six segments the key section 3 moves in an arc between the full line and dotted positions shown in Fig. 1 through the medium of the attached rack 4 and pinion 5, and is actuated by a handle 6 furnished with stress-limiting shearing-pins 6<d>. A second segment 7, forming the base of the moving group or unit, carries other segments 8, 9 hinged to its ends, and is mounted to rotate about the hinge pin 7b. The segments 8. 9 are mounted on inclined or offset pins so that they will lie one above the other when folded inwards towards the segment 7. The remaining segments 10, 11 are hinged detachably to the segments 8, 9 and can be removed entirely after the unit has been rotated out of the operative plane of the core.
